Elena García Guitián

Elena is a Professor of Political Science at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM). She has been a visiting scholar at Harvard Unviersity (1998-9) and has taught at several European universities, including the IEP in Bordeaux, Paris-Dauphine, and Warsaw.

Elena's research focuses on analysis of the liberal tradition, political pluralism, concepts of freedom, theories of democracy, political representation and citizen participation, and discourses on legitimacy in the European Union.

Elena served as Director General for Relations with the Spanish Parliament at the Ministry of the Presidency of Spain between 2009 and 2011.
